Sunday 24th February - two key eventsSunday 24th February was special in three ways - well, Sunday is always special! three MORE ways: 1. A FIRST AT ST. GEORGE'S! we were able to provide HOT TEA and coffee with the refreshments after the Sunday service. It was a chilly day so this was very popular, and refreshment-time went on longer than the service itself! 2. This was the first Sunday for which the exterior Restoration was COMPLETED. Our church is now a glorious sight as you come over the Ponte S.Vio from Accademia and see it on the other side of the Campo, all clean and white and cream . A wonderful tribute to everyone who has contributed in work and funds to the 400th Anniversary Appeal. I must now update the Appeal page of this site..... 3. As Chaplain representing the Anglican Church I was invited to attend St. Mark's Basilica in the afternoon for the Consecration of a new Auxiliary Bishop in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice, Monsignor Beniamino Pizziol. Mons. Pizziol is a friend to our church who has helped us in his work as Vicario Generale, and it was a great honour to be present at this wonderful service, right at the front alongside my other Ecumenical partners from all the churches in Venice, and to join in the prayers for the whole Christian faith and mission in the Veneto.
